[sticky entry] Sticky: Introducing Kit

I've been staring at the blinking cursor and blank 'post an entry' page for a couple of days. Not constantly, obviously - I've been doing other life etc stuff - but on and off, trying to decide what to write for that all important first post

Having browsed around Dreamwidth a little, I'm seeing people posting introductory posts, mini-profiles almost which seems like a good, if a bit daunting, choice and one that I suspect I will attempt. It feels weird, the idea of writing a relatively in-depth introduction - after all, when you meet a new person in real life you generally don't say much more than "Hi, I'm Kit."

However, if I think of this post as more of a book blurb than an personal introduction, it makes much more sense and feels a little less daunting to write.

So, who am I and what can you expect from this blog?

Well, hi, my name's Kit and as my username (hopefully)suggests I'm a Swiftie and a Bookworm. My bookish era has so far lasted somewhere in the region of 25 years and I can't see if ending anytime in the next hopefully 50 or so. I'm a 34 year white cis asexual woman with adhd and autism, I have degrees in history, philosophy, English and creative writing and it's safe to say history and reading are parts of my special interests. The Roman Empire and Julius Caesar have been a life-long special interest, and my current hyperfixation is on The Maya. I have historian crushes on Tom Holland and Mary Beard, and I've been really enjoying Adrian Goldsworthy's books recently.

If you ask me my favourite book, or author, or genre, the answer is generally something facetious along the lines of 'one with words in' and I very rarely meet a book I don't like. Books I come back to a lot are The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter & Narnia. I re-read them most years.

If you ask me my favourite Taylor Swift album, I can't answer. But I can tell you Reputation is my least favourite but it's not exactly by a big margin. I haven't listened to TTPD yet because I'm not great with new things - I really want to listen to it, and I probably will this weekend, but I have to be in the right mental place for it. I'm very excited for it though!

TV wise I enjoy Sherlock, Pointless, Misdsomer Murders, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, The Frankie Drake Mysteries, Merlin, Supernatural, Father Brown, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Star Trek, Stargate, Star Wars, Murdoch Mysteries, David Attenborough documentaries, Great British Bake Off, Great British Sewing Bee, Great British Pottery Throwdown, Masterchef, etc

My hobbies include baking, cooking, crafting, crocheting, journalling, knitting, reading, sleeping, writing and yoga. I love bright colours and try to actively take part in gratitude and mindfulness. My favourite food/drinks include bubble tea, Hobnobs, hot chocolate, mangoes, Pepsi Max, pizza.

I will probably talk about all of these things here - especially books, history, Taylor Swift and TV because I think people in my real life get tired of me talking about the same few things, so I'm excited to hopefully connect with people with the same/similar/related interests!

Thank you for reading
